Charlotte backs AgeUK #CareCrisis campaign

September 10, 2018 by Charlotte Holloway

I was delighted to back Age UK's national #carecrisis campaign, which was in Plymouth City Centre today. I got to meet Penny the Piggy Bank who is here raising awareness of the social care crisis which is currently costing the NHS £500 a minute.

I've heard far too many first hand accounts recently of vulnerable older people in Plymouth who desperately need care and are paying the price for the inaction of this Tory Government when it comes to fixing the social care crisis.

While nearly half a million people are getting less publicly funded care and 1.4 million older people going without care at all, the Conservatives have chosen to kick the can down the road with an unnecessary and heavily-delayed Green Paper.

That's why I'm a Labour Party candidate - Labour has pledged to invest £8 billion across this Parliament to ease the crisis and to place a lifetime cap on care costs so that no-one is forced to pay catastrophic costs.
