New figures out today show that here in the South West we are paying twice as much for childcare as other parts of the country.
It’s not right that parents in the far South West have to pay more than other parts of the country whilst this Tory Government fails to deliver affordable childcare for families here in Plymouth. Parents shouldn’t be locked out of the workplace because of a Conservative Government sitting on its hands.
We’ve seen costs go up by 6% in the South West in the last year alone - and working families are paying more here than elsewhere (the average here is twice as much as in the North East, for example).
My view is we shouldn’t have an unpredictable postcode lottery stopping working families getting affordable high quality childcare provision in the summer holidays - let me know what you think would help make things easier for you and your family.
